Since the Camden Call to Service Summit, Bryan Morton, President of Concerned Citizens of North Camden, has been an instrumental player in spreading the word about The Citizens Campaign and how citizens can constructively participation in the process and get results. He sits on our Camden Call to Service Committee and has hosted a number of our classes for his organization.

 

 

Citizen Legislator

Become a Citizen LegislatorPaterson resident Jesse McCaskill is in the insurance business. He read about our "ready to adopt" law on "best price" insurance purchasing reform in the newspaper. He attended our Paterson Cost Cutting forum, and liked what he heard about how this model law had been adopted by school districts in Cherry Hill, Perth Amboy and Toms River to bring savings of over $10 million. He helped introduce the proposal to the Paterson City Council, together with fellow Paterson resident Mark Lazarus, and followed up many times, even meeting with the finance committee. The Paterson City Council adopt the law on Aug 23rd, 2011.

 

Political Party Leader

Become a Political Party Leader La-Trenda Ross, from Hoboken, whose passion for caring for her community came from the example of her grandfather,  took the Political Party Leadership Class and went on to campaign and win a committee seat. "I want to thank The Citizens Campaign for all of their support, advice and recommendations. I took the initiative to join The Citizens Campaign and was given in-depth information that led me to take charge and become a party leader."

 

Appointed Official

Become an appointed officialJoe Zaccardo became an Appointed Official in Monmouth County. He learned about the The Citizens Campaign from an email forwarded by a friend. He was intrigued by the information he received, about the opportunity to learn how to participate in the leadership of his community. Its something he always wanted to do, but didn't really know how to begin. He learned how to pursue appointed office using our 30 minute online class. When he was ready to apply for a board position, he got free coaching in how to effectively proceed. "I called and they gave me advice as to how to go about the first steps in getting a position. I followed the directions of the The Citizens Campaign and the rest was very easy" Joe said.
 

Citizen Journalist
